Michael Carrick Set to Retire if No New Contract

Michael Carrick appears to be coming to the end of a quite illustrious footballing career. Reports on BBC are stating that he would “probably” retire if he doesn’t get a new contract in the summer with Manchester United.

He’s a strange case for me. I thought he was way over valued when he signed for United from Spurs 11 years ago for £18 million. Many pundits and fans alike raved about him though and the value and strength that he brings to the team.

I can see why he wouldn’t want to play for anyone else after United, maybe he will get another year. Or maybe he’ll retire while he is still on top of his game?

I think Manchester United and their current squad will miss him though. What do you think?

So Many Saves

As Huddersfield Town tried to get to the next round of the FA Cup you couldn’t help but notice that a) they scored with almost their first shot on target & b) Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has cheered on almost every single touch of the ball he made subsequently.

He has a very poor shots to saves ratio as it is, and I wonder really if his playing ability is really as good as Pep really thinks. It was disappointing that the Huddersfield team didn’t press more when he was playing it out from the back.

I’m am still quite amazed the Joe Hart has not been recalled yet, or at least given the nod for next season. Apparently he will still have to wait to find out his fate.

What do you think about the goalkeeping situation at City?
